Spring Visitors

MomMom, Aunt Elizabeth, Matthew, and Corinne came to visit last weekend. We had a great time together. We decided to try the Cole Brother's Circus for the first time. It was an interesting experience but the kids loved it. Corinne had a the best time. She never took her eyes off the action. The boys all agreed that the motorcycles in the cage were very exciting.

Let it Snow...

We were finally able to enjoy some snow here at home today. Although, we got a couple of inches the snow mixed with sleet early this morning so it made for an interesting mix. Although, we got a couple of inches the snow mixed with sleet early this morning so it made for an interesting mix. The boys were thrilled when the saw the snow falling last night. They couldn't stop talking about how it was everywhere this morning when the got up.n the got up.

We did make it outside and the boys had high hopes of a snow ball fight but the snow doesn't pack well. They did make some super snow angels and had fun throwing snow at each other.

Update: We made it back outside this afternoon. The sleet/snow had stopped falling and the boys had a wonderful time playing. They prepared for a snowball battle but stacking pieces of the snow together. Finally, we declared it was time to battle and Brett had a strategy of allowing Breandan to get him first using all of his "snowballs"... Brett continued to collect pieces of snow ensuring he would always have a supply. It was a good battle for everyone involved.

The dogs even got into the action today- they went for a walk this morning and loved the snow. Red Rose, the youngest, enjoyed the snow the most- as she liked leaping up and down in the snow. In the one picture, you can even see Daisy enjoying a taste of snow from behind our gate-

Happy Halloween 2009

We had fun going to trick or treat last night. The boys were really excited and remembered going last year. Brett was clone trooper- Captain Rex from Star Wars the Clone Wars and Breandan was Jango Fett also a clone trooper.

The boys painted and decorated pumpkins while were camping a couple of weeks ago with Megan and Phil. They used potato head pieces and real paint. The boys really enjoyed it.

Brett had lots and lots of energy last night. Breandan was ready for the car and Brett was able to keeping on going with Seane and Red Rose, who enjoyed the walk.

Brett said his favorite part was all of trick or treating and Breandan said his favorite part was the smoke bubbles we saw at one house. This house had lots and lots of decorations and had these really cool bubbles that when popped had smoke.

Brett's 5th Birthday

Brett's 5th Birthday was last Saturday and we had a great time celebrating all weekend long. We had small family celebration on Sat. with Uncle Phil and Megan. Brett picked out an ice cream cake (we had one for Seane's b-day a few weeks before). He even asked the cake lady to write on it.

Then on Sunday we had great time celebrating again with friends and family. Brett had 13 friends come and enjoy a dino hunt adventure. We learned about dinosaurs, wore hats and had our faces painted so we could be paleontologist. We made dino fossils to take home and we even exploded volcanoes made with crushed dino bones and dino spit. It was great time.

Megan even made a terrific Batman Cake as requested by Brett. He loved it!

I can't believe he's five years old! Since his birthday he's been telling me all the things he can do since he's now five. For example while walking in the parking lot, "No mom I don't need to hold your hand, I'm five and five year olds can walk without a hand." You would be amazed at all the things he can now "do". But one of the most important things he can now do is go to the Funhouse at the Y. It is the room for the big kids and it is without Mom. It really is a big deal!

YMCA Summer Camp

Brett and Breandan were super excited to attend YMCA summer camp in August. They had started talking about going since last spring. They had to wait patiently till August arrived.

Breandan was so thrilled to be able to go with Brett this year. Last year, he was so upset and cried everyday when Brett got out of the car for camp. This year, it was amazing how quickly the got out of the car and ran inside. There were no kisses goodbyes or crying (a good thing).

They each had a great time even though they were in different "huddles". They had fun swimming, making crafts, playing games and singing songs. It was nice that many of their counselors knew them from us working at Y already.

Brett was awarded Camper of the Day on Tuesday for his excellent behavior. This motivated Breandan and he was Awarded Camper of the Day on Thursday. How special to have two Camper of the Days...I'm so thankful.

Below is a photo from last summer, before we went to camp.

Seane's Birthday

Seane celebrated the big 30 in mid august. We had a quiet family celebration for his big day. We even had candles and presents for breakfast!

We even did something we had never done before together- We went bowling. Even with all the practice we've had with the Wii Bolwing we weren't very good. Thank goodness for the bumpers. It was a lot of fun.

The boys enjoyed being able to blow out the candles with Seane. It was special day for everyone.

Camping with MomMom and PopPop

MomMom and PopPop came to visit NC for their annual summer camping trip. They were here for ten days- which was great. We loved having the chance to spend so much time with them. We really enjoyed swimming in the lake. The boys are getting more and more confident with their swimming.

The boys also spent several nights with MomMom and PopPop without us. They loved sleeping in the tent. It was great to sleep in in the morning. I was amazed when we didn't get up till 8:30a one morning. I can't remember the last time that happened. We really appreciated all the help MomMom and PopPop were to us!

There was also lots of game playing this trip. Brett learned how to play War and Checkers. He also learned about cheating- no one likes a cheater. Breandan even played a little War. They also spent a lot time playing with the hammock. They were really cute playing together. It was nice to see them help each other to get in. After all - we want them to remember "Brothers help Brothers". The soldiers MomMom and PopPop got were also a big hit. They battled each other and were great to play with in the dirt and hide behind the rocks.

Everyone is already looking forward to camping again next summer. We can't wait!
