YMCA Summer Camp

We just finished a great week at the YMCA summer camp. Brett attended Kindercamp with other 3-5 year olds. While Breandan and I went to Camp Lollipop for the Y's youngest campers.

This was actually Brett's second week at Camp. In June he and his friend Cole went to Micro Sports camp. They really enjoyed being together for their first camp experience.

Both of the boys were so excited about their bead necklaces. You earn a bead or beads each day at camp for demonstrating the values of the Y. Brett was very proud of all the beads he earned. Breandan couldn't wait to show Brett that he too had a bead necklace.

Seane attended Brett's camp family lunch on Thurs. Brett and his fellow campers performed some camp favorites like "Baby Shark... do do do ... Baby Shark" and "The Fish Pokey".

It was a fun week filled with friends, games, swimming, and crafts. We look forward to next year when Brett and Breandan can both attend Kindercamp...

Camping with MomMom, PopPop and Aunt Amanda

We had the pleasure of camping with MomMom and PopPop again this June. Aunt Amanda also came to visit before she headed to South Africa to get married. They came to visit for 2 weeks and we camped with them for several days during their visit. We really enjoyed camping on Falls Lake. We had two sites close to the lake so there was easy access to the water. The boys swam like fish in lake. Each of them gained new confidence each time we went swimming.

Brett and Breandan spent a lot of time moving the rocks and dirt around the campsite. We also made smores a couple of nights. We tried to teach them some campfire songs but I thinnk it will be awhile before they can appreciate "Alice the Camel" at the campfire. They also rode their scooters while PopPop traveled by bike. We also took along our wagon for some walks to the bath house.

Brett enjoyed talking to the Park Rangers. They were gracious to answer all his questions about their job and uniform. When a lost dog ran through our campsite, Brett was ready to call on the rangers for help.

We had a great time hanging out with Aunt Amanda. It was really nice to have some extended time with her before she is gone for awhile. We were really excited to celebrate an early birthday with her too. Although Brett couldn't keep the party a surprise we all had fun. After we explained that Amanda flying back to Marlyland and then South Africa Brett and Breandan became very interested in all the airplanes that we saw and heard. Each time a plane flys over they boys would wave to Aunt Amanda. Now a couple of weeks later she is still flying on all the airplanes.

We are all ready looking forward to our next camping adventure.... We would love to camp again soon~ Anyone ready to go?
